It's been a good week. It's been such a nice time, being out at sea with the family-- Especially now that all three of the kids are old enough to actually properly learn and help and enjoy.
This actual day, however, is hopefully going to be one of the best. It's always nice, after all, when he can wake his husband up with some soft kisses.
And, well, with a gentle murmur.
"Kids're gonna make breakfast for you t'day."
So Horatio should just stay in bed for a little longer rather than getting up and trying to make breakfast himself, clearly.

Actually sleeping in the morning isn't half bad either. Being woken up by the gentle press of Archie's lips is relatively delightful.
But the grogginess of all these things is ripe for the first nagging worry of the day. "--why?"
no subject
"Happy birthday, love."
no subject
"...hm."
Time for another soft peck of a kiss.
"They're okay on their own?"
no subject
"Richie'll keep an eye on 'em. And they're all-- much more capable of navigating the kitchen, now.
They've grown so much.

He's proud, but not pleased. It's a complex emotion.
"If you're sure."
no subject
"'m sure, 'ratio. Just-- enjoy, mm?"
no subject
"I'm enjoying."
no subject
So he'll shift so they snuggle a little more comfortably.
"Love you."
no subject
And, nearly as much, he loves moments like this--safe and warm and snug, with the certainty that everyone he loves best in the world is safe and snug as well.

The usual being, of course, spending time with the family-- and, in this particular case, sailing.

"What could-- possibly be better than this?"
no subject
Never hurts to ask, he figures.

Part of what he wants, apparently, is to curl his husband a little closer, bumping noses as he contemplates.
"We'll see. After coffee."
no subject
“Th’coffee’s probably the one thing y’might have to— make another cup of. I’m not sure they’re quite as well-versed with the coffee maker as with everything else.”
no subject
"They're my children."
Surely coffee had been inherited through osmosis.
no subject
"'s true."
no subject
Punctuated with another light kiss.
"And you make excellent coffee."
no subject
A soft kiss as he settles in a little closer.
"I learned from th'best."
no subject
"You learned from the needful."
no subject
Not when it's Horatio.
no subject
"Can we just do this today?"
no subject
He certainly won’t mind.
no subject
"Might be nice."

Even in hard times, it’s nice to have one another— and this is certainly the opposite of hard times.
